Abstract
Yellow nail syndrome (YNS) is a rare disorder characterized by respiratory system involvement, lymphedema, and yellow discoloration of the nails. The disease is clinically identified after excluding other possible etiologies of the presenting symptoms. The pathogenesis of this disease remains unknown. We present the case of a 27-year-old woman who complained of bilateral lower limb heaviness and persistent edema. After ruling out other possible diagnoses, she was diagnosed with YNS. The patient was treated with diuretic therapy, Daflon, and multiple vitamins. The primary emphasis of patient education is symptomatic therapy, particularly the utilization of strengthening agents and antitussive medications to address respiratory manifestations that arise during sleep. To elucidate the fundamental pathophysiological mechanisms at play and offer pragmatic therapeutic strategies for YNS, further studies are encouraged is imperative.
